Do you know?
Many assume that the Prophet Isaiah was referring to prayer, when he wrote “…they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles.” It had nothing to do with waiting in prayer.
Did you know that the two words ‘hope’ and ‘wait’ are the same? In the Latin, ‘esperar’ is used to express both.
Galatians 5: 5 “For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.”
Renew means “pass on quickly“
Mount up means ‘climb‘
Take a look at the context of the verses-
Isaiah 40:29–31
29 He giveth power to the faint;
And to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings as eagles;
They shall run, and not be weary;
And they shall walk, and not faint.
So then, they that HOPE in the Lord….shall “pass on quickly” that is, RENEW, their strength, and quickly rise from their downfall, which inevitably and occasionally happens. They will quickly ‘pass on’ from weariness, and fainting, and weakness, and climb out of their problems to soar above.
So don’t give up hope! When your hope is truly in God through Jesus Christ, you will quickly rise up and ascend like an eagle, no matter what comes your way. He will give you the power, and increase your strength. Mount up!
